I'm so pleased to be able to tell you about the project that I recently completed for the Port Hope Rotary Club.

Last autumn my friend from high school, Robyn K Town, was asked to paint some little community libraries for the town of Port Hope. She realized that it was too much work for one person and so she enlisted a group of local female artists from Northumberland County to collaborate.

I was honoured to be one of the artists that was asked to participate along with Jennifer Anne Burke, Allyson Demoe and Catherine Lynn. These Little Libraries will be installed in various locations around Port Hope, Ontario, Canada.

Do you know where these libraries are now? In the summer my sister and I like to drive through and stop in Port Hope on my way out east. We would love to visit these libraries and see the art work up close and personal.

I do know where most of them are and was planning to update my blog with a map and pictures.
Thanks for the prompt, I will start working on that this week! (If you subscribe to my newsletter you will get updates on blogs and shows to your inbox.)

I am a board member for a condo development of homes in Port Hope and would love to find out how to obtain one of these little libraries for our community.

Hello Laurel,

These were a done as a community project with the Port Hope Rotary Club. From my understanding, one of their members did the actual construction of the library and then we were given them to paint. I would give you contact info on who built them but I don't have that information.

Perhaps a possibility would be to ask one of the local high schools if their carpentry and visual art department would be willing to partner with you on a project. It would be a good media spotlight on the importance of high school specialist majors in light of the education cuts that they are facing and a win for all involved.
